January, 2023 – John Hardesty takes on the role of Chief Marketing Officer for the revolutionary virtual reality fitness company.

Black Box VR is the creator of a revolutionary virtual reality gym that merges the thrill of video games with the immersive capabilities of VR and the transformative benefits of intense exercise. Gym members are able to reach their health and fitness goals with ease and excitement using this state-of-the-art technology.

Today the company is announcing the hiring of John Hardesty as their Chief Marketing Officer.

John Hardesty has spent the last 20+ years dedicated to leading the fitness industry into a new era of truth, transparency, and transformation through customer-centric, purpose-driven marketing. He believes you can’t just sell someone a pill, powder, or piece of technology – you must connect all the dots, support the consumer’s full fitness journey, and be dedicated to adding value to their life to earn their love, loyalty and referral.

In John’s last role, he was the Chief Brand Officer of VShred & Sculpt Nation, one of the fastest growing fitness and nutrition brands in the world. Since launching in 2016, these brand platforms have provided life-changing programs, personal coaching, and supplementation to millions of clients across the world. VShred has more than 5 million customers, a social community of nearly 15 million across all platforms, and top ranking mobile apps for both iOS and Android.

Previously, John served as the Chief Marketing Officer for Nutrabolt, a global leader in sports nutrition trusted by millions of consumers, consisting of elite competitors, everyday gym goers, and people looking to perform in all aspects of life. The company’s disruptive and innovative products compete in the Functional Beverage and Active Nutrition segments, under three consumer-loved brands: C4® (one of the fastest-growing energy drink brands in the United States and the #1 selling global pre-workout brand), XTEND® (the #1 post-workout recovery brand in the United States), and Cellucor® (an award-winning sports nutrition brand created in 2002).

Prior to joining Nutrabolt, John served as Vice President of Digital Publishing at Bodybuilding.com, the world’s largest health and fitness e-commerce website. His digital approach to marketing helped the company grow to more than $500m in sales and reach more than 35m unique visitors per month. 

Before Bodybuilding.com, John spent eight years founding two marketing companies based on the philosophies of word-of-mouth marketing, social media, content development, personal branding, and digital advertising. Developing one of the first grassroots marketing firms in the Northwest, he developed more than 100+ brand strategies for clients such as Fred Meyer, Fishers Document Systems, Hewlett Packard, TSheets, and Wahooz Family Entertainment.

As CMO of Black Box VR, John will be using his vast marketing and brand building experience to help take Black Box VR’s innovative gym experience to millions of people across the USA and then around the world.

John currently lives in Boise, Idaho with his wife and their two young boys. When he’s not working out in the metaverse, he spends his time on the golf course or hanging out with his extended family in the area.
